When we stand up for children’s rights we create a better world for all people. The UN Convention on The Rights of the Child (UNCRC), details the rights of every child globally. “Every child has rights whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, language, abilities or any other status.” Every right is equally important.
During Pikinini Pilai this past month all of the children participated in a colouring activity where they learned about their rights. The afternoon started off with yoga stretching. Afterwards they discussed some of their rights as children with their teachers. The children coloured visual examples of some of their rights in an effort to help to support their knowledge and memory on the topic. This activity was held in preparations for the World Children’s Day that will celebrated on November 20th in partnership with UNICEF and other organizations.
