Pinktober Awareness and Education for the Communities

Active City Development Program (ACDP), in partnership with Papua New Guinea Cancer Foundation (PNGCF), worked hand-in-hand this October to deliver Cancer Awareness and Education Programs in the communities of Port Moresby.

  • 3 awareness talks, outreach & educational programs
  • 3 locations; Pari, Taurama Barracks and Murray Barracks
  • 300 communities; women, teenagers, girls

Community awareness has been one of the overall goals of ACDP since its inception, to promote preventative health, behaviour change, fitness and wellness in individuals and throughout the community in the nation’s capital.

Each 3 hours session included physical exercises, a dance where everyone comes together to do exercises, and an awareness session conducted by Health Educators and Drs who talked about cancer, specifically breast and cervical cancer, what can be done to prevent and the importance of early detection to conduct treatments that can help to save lives.
