Several Activities were held in Port Moresby to commemorate International Youth Day. Active City Development Program youths took part in the Youth Fun Day at Nature Park and the Youth Debate: Meaningful Youth Engagement at the University of Papua New Guinea.
ACDP supports youth participation to promote change and youth empowerment as a role models for a better society and leaders of change.
Youth Fun Day hosted by Equal Playing Filed on August 8th with the aim to bring youths together to support and build a youth empowered generation, included a self-care session, agriculture talk, Health Talk and Team Building activities. The ACDP youths actively took part showing interest especially in the agriculture talk, shared their experience on the importance of youths to practice and support agriculture which helps fight climate change.
The debate was hosted on 12th August by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to PNG and the University Of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) which is a Spotlight initiative providing a platform for young people to identify gaps and challenges in youth engagement leading up to the 2021 Youth Summit and the importance to include youths in parliament by 2022.
Almost 50 youth representatives from different youth programs and organizations joined the debate. Representing the youths of Active City Development Program (ACDP) were (Ms.) Roselyn Erehe and (Mr) Henry Mekere representing almost 500 youths in ACDP at the debate. ACDP is known for its urban youth engagement, transforming and building youths into ambassadors of change through mindset, health and physical change in the nation’s capital.
